December
1996 At the beginning of March our landlord informed us that as of May 1st our rent would go up $200.00 a month. We decided that this was a little too steep. So we packed. And packed, and packed. By the middle of April we still didn’t know where we were going to move. We moved in with Sonya’s parents in Dundee Michigan on April 29. Steve
began searching for a job in the Philadelphia area because he wanted to live
closer to his parents. Within 2 weeks of moving in with Sonya’s parents Steve
had landed a job in Philadelphia. Now we had to take the barest of essentials
and go live with Steve’s parents in Levittown PA. We
thought we would find a house within a matter of months. This was not to be so.
Housing is MORE expensive here than in Chicago. Steve’s job kept him from
being home as often as he would like. He has to catch a 7:11 AM train to get to
work at 9 and the 4:50 train to get home at 5:30PM. After a month or so I signed
up with Olsten Staffing Services, a temporary agency. On my second assignment I
was assigned to a company called Chemcentral and have been there since August
15. This company works from 8 to 5 leaving very little time for genealogy.
Well, maybe we will have bid in on a house for Easter. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year |
